EXPERIENCE CREDIT

To be eligible for experience credit, employees must submit a written request and letter(s) of verification from former employer(s) to the Personnel Office, for approval by the Superintendent.

Credit is given for experience in skills and responsibilities applicable to the employee's current assignment only. Skills and responsibilities that do not apply to the employee's current assignment may be credited at a later date, if the employee submits a request at the time they become applicable, and if the experience has been verified in writing by previous employer(s).

Experience credit becomes effective from the date of the employee's written request, if verification(s) are attached. Credit will not be granted without verification from previous employers.

Employees will be placed at the step on the salary schedule that reflects the months of verified experience according to BP Policy 4251.1.

Example:
An employee has requested credit for seventy-two (72) months of job related experience, which has been verified in writing by his/her previous employer(s).

The employee's current placement on the salary schedule is Level C, Step 1. Four (4) years experience is approved. The employee would be placed at Level C, Step 5.
