About Health Services

ABOUT MJUSD HEALTH SERVICES
The Health Services Department is managed by the school district nurse. Each school site has a nursing station/office that is supervise by a health clerk with training in CPR, First Aid, medication administration, and follows procedure guidelines to manage health and emergency accordingly. The Health Services Department partner with other professional discipline within the school district to meet the health needs of our students.

The district nurse provides the following services, but not limited to them:

  • Health education in the classroom
  • Screening for vision, hearing, scoliosis, communicable diseases, and follow – ups
  • Health summary report
  • Managed medication administration process at school sites
  • Monitor and/or consults with health clerks and health professionals on emergencies at all school sites daily and as needed.
  • Participate in IEP meetings as needed
  • Home visits regarding health of child

School clerks and site health professional provides the following services:

  • Audits and monitor immunization status
  • Audits and monitor Health Physical Reports for school entrance
  • Audits and monitor Oral Health Assessment for school entrance
  • Call parents regarding health problems
  • Oversees the AED, First-Aid kit, and disaster relief bags
  • Provide forms for health-related problems
  • Perform health assessment under the supervision of the school nurse to determine stay at school or send home decision
  • Provide first aid for minor injuries at school
  • Administer medication and maintains accurate records
