INSTRUCTION

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The Governing Board believes that all students need to meet high standards of academic knowledge and skills. In addition, they must have the ability to apply their skills to the workplace, where they will be required to adapt to emerging technologies and changing societal needs. The Board therefore desires to provide an integrated school-to-career instructional program that extends from kindergarten through high school graduation and prepares students to have:

  1. a mastery of skills and knowledge in mathematics, English, science, civics and government, economics, history, geography, health and safety, physical education, foreign language and the arts;

  2. the ability to analyze, think creatively, solve problems, make decisions and apply knowledge and skills to real-life situations;

  3. strong communication and interpersonal skills;

  4. experience with a variety of technologies;

  5. a flexible personal career plan based on:
    (a) awareness of possible career paths,
    (b) career counseling,
    (c) concurrent work-site learning experience, and
    (d) an understanding of all aspects of the industry the student is preparing to enter;

  6. specialized skills that can lead to career entry positions or more advanced education;

  7. respect for a diversity of cultures and thoughts;

  8. self esteem;

  9. awareness of the responsibilities of citizens in a democracy and the importance of community service;

  10. a positive work ethic, and the ability to work independently or in a team; and

  11. the ability to seek out, organize and learn new information.
